This spread couldn’t be easier to prepare and even better, it’s a tasty nutritious treat your children will love to eat. Serve it with animal or graham crackers.
Ingredients:
1 15-oz (350 ml) can chickpeas
1 Tbsp peanut butter
3 Tbsp oil
½ C (120 ml) cocoa powder
½ C (120 ml) sugar
1 tsp vanilla
¼ tsp salt
2 – 4 Tbsp milk or water
Directions:
Put all ingredients except for milk or water into a food processor or blender, and thoroughly puree, scraping down the sides of the bowl to ensure everything is fully incorporated. While blending, slowly drizzle in the liquid until you have a smooth consistency that you like.
Notes:
- You can substitute honey for sugar. Just use a bit less milk or water when blending.
- For a dairy-free version use a milk substitute like almond milk or coconut milk.
- You can use any oil, but I prefer peanut oil.
- A darker chocolate, such as Dutch chocolate, will produce a darker, richer chocolate flavor.
