You can save money and time by making your own spice mixes. If you use ingredients from your garden the flavors will be brighter and more intense.
Ranch Dressing Dry Mix
¼ C dried chives
¼ C dried parsley
¼ C dried dill weed
2 Tbsp garlic powder
2 Tbsp tsp onion powder
2 ½ tsp salt
2 tsp black pepper
Crush the herbs so that they are a fine powder. Mix together and store in an airtight jar.

To make dressing:
Add 1 Tbsp dry mix to 1 C mayonnaise and ½ C sour cream. Whisk together until well mixed.
Taco Seasoning
8 Tbsp chili powder
6 Tbsp + 2 tsp paprika
6 Tbsp cumin
4 Tbsp onion powder
1 Tbsp celery powder
1 Tbsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp cayenne (or to taste)
2 Tbsp flour
2 tsp salt
2 tsp black pepper
Sift and mix all ingredients together. Store in an airtight jar. I prefer glass jars as they will not absorb the oils and aromas of the pepper and garlic powders. Three tablespoons is about the equivalent of one packet of commercial mix. Use in any recipe as you would Taco Seasoning.
