Cooking meals from scratch is one of the best ways to keep your food budget under control. It also ensures that your family is eating quality nutritious food.
But it can also be time consuming and it’s a real temptation just to buy ready-made.
Here’s something that might help
I’ve compiled a booklet of my favorite cooking and baking mixes. This 18-page booklet has over two dozen recipes for mixes that help make meal prep quick and convenient.
It includes spice mixes for meats and barbecue, herb mixes for your favorite dishes and baking mixes.
Besides the convenience, these mixes will save you money. The homemade versions cost ½ to ¼ what the ready-made store versions cost. And they don’t have all the chemical preservatives and flavorings, all those ingredients that you can’t even pronounce.
My favorite
The Purdue Master Mix (included in this booklet) is my all-time favorite. It was developed in the 1940’s by food scientists who were focusing on efficiency in the kitchen. As more women were entering the work-force, there was a new demand for quick and easy recipes and this was the result.

Here we are, nearly 80 years later and it’s still a great way to save time and money in the kitchen.
This mix is the foundation for dozens of baked goods: dumplings, quick bread, coffee cake, cookies and much more. If you want quick and easy, this is the place to start.
